In two weeks, most Oiligarchs in the world will gather once again in Houston for a massive industry conference called CERA Week. This annual event brings together the CEOs of the biggest fossil fuel companies with the most powerful politicians in the world – including multiple energy ministers, prime ministers, and several members of Trump’s fossil fueled fascist cabinet.
They are coming to CERA week to plan bigger profits, pollution, and the utter destruction of our climate and communities. But we have a surprise for those oiligarchs: We are coming to CERA week too. I know it’s a big ask but will you join us in Houston to confront the fossil fuel billionaires wrecking our future?
We’ve all seen it: Fossil fueled fascist billionaires — we call them Oiligarchs — have captured our government at the highest level.
From Trump’s Secretary of Energy – Chris Wright, a former fracking CEO who calls climate change “hype”; To his Secretary of the Interior – Doug Bergum a longtime backer of the Dakota Access Pipeline who is personally invested in the fossil fuel and pipeline companies he’s supposed to regulate. Even Elon Musk and the tech bros are in on the action, with AI and Data centers demanding an endless supply of electricity on demand, and increasingly partnering with the same bad companies (like Chevron) to get it from fracked gas.
The impacts are all around us: higher prices, devastating climate chaos, pollution, and the increasingly stupid and autocratic movement to eliminate all of our federal government (the good, the bad, and the bureaucratic alike) with private profit chatbots.
That’s why we are coming together on March 9th & 10th in Houston, TX to Resist CERA Week. We will take action to demonstrate our opposition to the oil and gas CEOs profiting from our destruction and build power together through movement-building training, workshops, and events. There are roles and events for everyone.
- Sunday we’re hosting a family friendly rally and picnic at Discovery green – a massive downtown park across the street from the convention center where CERA Week is held. There will be music, speakers, food – and a performance by grammy nominated singer and actress Antonique Smith.
- Monday there’s a march, rally, and a protest action with roles for everyone. If you came to any of the summer of heat actions in New York City last summer (or saw them) you know what to expect.
- All week Tuesday to Friday there will be other events, actions, teach-ins and rallies. Stick around and connect with the many partner organizations to get plugged into an event that feels right for you.
